Does the compressor preserve PNG transparency?
No. This compressor converts PNG to JPEG, and JPEG does not support transparency. If your image has a transparent background it will automatically be replaced with a white background. To preserve PNG transparency, use a dedicated PNG compressor such as TinyPNG.
What is the best quality level for compression?
80%–85% is ideal for sharing online and via email — excellent balance between quality and size. 60%–75% for greater size reduction with acceptable quality. 90%+ for print use. The default value of 80% is suitable for most cases.
Why might the compressed image be larger than the original?
This happens when the original image is already well compressed or very small. Also, large PNGs converted to JPEG at high quality may have similar sizes. Solution: gradually lower the quality level until you achieve the desired saving.
